A congressional committee investigating convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on Monday released video footage of depositions given by former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, marking a significant development in the panel’s ongoing probe.
The committee made the recordings public as part of a broader transparency effort tied to its review of Epstein’s network of associates and the circumstances surrounding his criminal activity. The depositions were conducted behind closed doors as lawmakers sought to clarify what prominent political figures knew about Epstein and his operations.
According to committee officials, the Clintons were questioned about their past interactions with Epstein, including travel, meetings, and any knowledge of his conduct. Both have previously denied any awareness of Epstein’s criminal behavior beyond what was publicly known following his earlier legal troubles.
Bill Clinton has acknowledged taking several flights on Epstein’s private aircraft in the early 2000s for philanthropic work related to the Clinton Foundation, but has consistently stated that he was unaware of Epstein’s crimes at the time. Hillary Clinton has also denied any personal involvement or knowledge of wrongdoing connected to Epstein.
The release of the deposition videos comes amid renewed public scrutiny of Epstein’s associates and increased pressure on Congress to declassify and disclose additional records tied to the case. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have faced calls from constituents demanding greater transparency regarding the high-profile figures linked to Epstein.
Committee members said the videos were released to allow the public to review the testimony directly rather than relying solely on summaries or excerpts. Additional documents and transcripts related to the investigation may be released in the coming weeks.
Epstein, who was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges, died in jail while awaiting trial. His case has continued to generate controversy and conspiracy theories, particularly regarding the extent of his connections to powerful individuals in politics, business, and entertainment.
The committee’s investigation remains ongoing.
